When forced to move back in with his parents, Eddie seeks the guidance of a fortune teller whose mysterious and shocking counsel isn't quite what he was expecting.  The Empress and El Diablo follows Eddie Roberts, through dreams and reality, as he valiantly struggles with his horrifying destiny, his overbearing family, and a girlfriend who's too tired to fool around.  Inspired by the writings of C.G. Jung and the Tarot of Marseilles, this production marks Toy Box Theatre Company's tenth season. The Empress and El Diablo will be performed with a live garage rock score by Colonna Sonora.

PUB THEATRE.  Our free monthly reading series of new and developing works.  Pub Theatre features artists from the worlds of Independent Theatre, Comedy, and Literature performing their original pieces in the back room at Legion Bar in Williamsburg.  Pub Theatre takes place the 3rd Tuesday of every month.  Interested in submitting a piece?  Email a brief synopsis of your proposal to pubtheatre@toyboxtheatre.org.

PLAY SUBMISSION.  Toy Box Theatre Company is devoted to the creation of new works.  Please read the criteria listed below carefully before you submit.

New Works Submission Criteria:

  1. New York based playwrights (we like to collaborate closely with our playwrights).
  2. Toy Box is a multi-disciplinary company, so the scripts we work with must allow for the possibility of multi-disciplinary production (choreography, live music, projections, puppets, etc.)
  3. The piece must never have been produced
  4. Please send a letter of introduction with a brief synopsis of the play as well as a 10 page dialogue sample in PDF FORMAT to submissions@toyboxtheatre.org.

PERFORMANCE.  Looking to audition for an upcoming Toy Box production?  Please send a brief note, headshot and resume to auditions@toyboxtheatre.org.

DESIGN AND STAGE MANAGEMENT.  Interested in designing or stage managing a Toy Box Production?  Please send a resume and design sampling to design@toyboxtheatre.org.
